Abstract

Narrative writing is a crucial skill in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, as it trains students to express ideas, develop their imagination, and construct a coherent flow of thought. However, the reality is that many students still experience difficulties in writing, both in terms of idea development, language use, and story structure. With technological advancements, digital storytelling strategies have emerged as an innovation that can strengthen students' narrative writing skills. Digital storytelling allows students to combine text, images, sound, and animation to support the creative process of writing. This literature review examines various recent studies addressing the role of digital storytelling in narrative writing skills. The results indicate that the use of digital storytelling has a positive impact on increasing students' learning motivation, ability to organize ideas, creativity, and language skills. Furthermore, digital storytelling can foster collaboration among students and support 21st-century skills. Therefore, this strategy has the potential to be an effective and relevant approach to strengthening elementary school students' narrative writing skills in the digital age.
