This study aims to analyze the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Problem Solving (PS) methods on the creative thinking abilities of fifth-grade students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning at SD Negeri 9 Lawa. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental treatment by level design. The research subjects consisted of 30 students divided into two classes, namely the experimental class using the PBL method and the control class using the PS method. Creative thinking ability data were measured through a 10-item essay test that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive, normality test, homogeneity test, two-way ANOVA without interaction, and t-test as a follow-up test. The results showed that the average score of creative thinking abilities of students in the PBL class was higher than that of the PS class, both in the high and low ability categories. The ANOVA test showed that the learning method and the level of students' creative thinking abilities had a significant effect on the learning outcomes of IPAS. The results of the t-test confirmed a significant difference between the two methods, where PBL was more effective in improving students' creativity through the process of problem identification, discussion, collaboration, and authentic problem solving. These findings indicate that PBL provides greater scope for idea exploration and divergent thinking development than more structured PS. Based on these results, it is recommended that science teachers implement Problem-Based Learning methods more routinely and adapt learning strategies to students' creative thinking abilities to optimally develop all students' creative potential.
