Abstract

Teacher professionalism is a key factor in the success of learning in elementary schools, particularly in the implementation of literacy-based learning. Literacy in the modern era encompasses not only reading and writing skills but also the ability to understand, analyze, and communicate information effectively. This study is a literature review aimed at analyzing the role of teacher professionalism in supporting literacy-based learning in elementary schools. The method used was a literature review of various relevant journals, books, and scientific articles, with a focus on teachers' pedagogical, professional, social, and personality competencies. The study results indicate that professional teachers possess strong pedagogical competencies, are able to design creative learning strategies, and are able to motivate and develop students' interest in reading. Teacher professionalism also influences students' literacy achievement, both in reading and writing skills, as well as in critical and creative thinking skills. The discussion emphasizes the importance of developing teacher professionalism through ongoing training, collaboration between teachers, and the application of educational technology to support digital literacy. In conclusion, teacher professionalism plays a central role in increasing the effectiveness of literacy-based learning, which in turn improves elementary school students' literacy competencies. The practical implications of this research emphasize the need for school management support and educational policies that consistently encourage teacher professional development.
